- Animal ID#: A326953
- Dog Name: Sam
- Dog Sex: Male
- Approximate Age: 6 years
- This poor boy shows signs of being fairly beat up by both dogs and people, but he’s so forgiving and ready to be your best friend! He finds over-the-head and straight-to-the-face petting overwhelming, so will give you his side or lower his head so you start to pet his back. He loves being by your side and is so gentle about asking for back scratches. He gets the biggest smile when you give him affection. Toddler’s would likely overwhelm him. He participates in shelter playgroups with gentle and light-play dogs. He so deserves a happy new beginning!

Meeting Dogs at the Stockton Shelter
The shelter’s kennels are loud, stressful places for dogs. Some dogs express that stress by exhibiting behavior inside a kennel that they will not show otherwise. Please ask to take the dog you are interested into a play yard and spend some time getting to know him or her in that more relaxed environment. For more information on meeting dogs at the shelter, please read this article.
