- This sweetheart is so nervous at the shelter and will stand up against you or hide behind you, whatever makes him feel most safe at the time. He really enjoys petting and attention and feels safe when he is leaning up against you! He bonds so quickly to you and finds comfort in you. Although he’s timid, he gives lots of kisses to thank you for your kindness. We suspect he would be OK with mannerly children; no loud, chaotic home for this softie. He participates in shelter playgroups with gentle and dainty dogs. All he needs – and deserves – is a patient and kind family and he will thrive!
- On a recent Dog Day Out, “Huck was a very affectionate boy. He was mannerly in the car and on the trail. I think he’d make a great family dog! I gave him a little grooming on my patio and he met the family (all adults) and was sweet with everyone. He was fine with runners and geese on the trail.”

Meeting Dogs at the Stockton Shelter
The shelter’s kennels are loud, stressful places for dogs. Some dogs express that stress by exhibiting behavior inside a kennel that they will not show otherwise. Please ask to take the dog you are interested into a play yard and spend some time getting to know him or her in that more relaxed environment.
