Astra 🐶

  • Animal ID#: A315688
  • Dog Name: Astra
  • Dog Sex: Spayed Female
  • Approximate Age: 1 year
  • This adorable gal just needs tons of love and a gentle hand to guide her! She’s starting to find her brave in the chaotic shelter environment, but you’ll often heartbreakingly see her curled in a ball in the corner of her kennel. This softie gets happy when she knows a walk or playgroups are coming, and when she sees people bringing her love, food and fun! She participates in shelter playgroups with gentle and light-play dogs. She’s one fabulous girl with so much potential – and we know she will thrive in a loving home environment!

😍 Look at previously terrified Astra morphing into a happy, more-confident gal in foster!!!

🗣 Her foster says, “Astra is spayed, house-trained and roughly a year old. Shelter staff were heartbroken to see her curled up in the corner of her kennel completely shutting down. This sweetheart comes out of her shell in the company of other dogs and is all love once she knows you are safe. Astra is a softie and she hid under the bed when first arriving to her foster home. She immediately wet herself. She was terrified and shaking. Within ONLY a few days she has come out of her shell and is showing her happy, playful personality. She is getting the zoomies and has started playing with toys and her foster siblings. She would be a great companion for a family who will be kind, gentle and patient with this shy girl while she builds confidence. She is good with other dogs, big and small. She seems indifferent to cats. She’s stunning with a bright personality and deserves an amazing forever home.”

Meeting Dogs at the Stockton Shelter

The shelter’s kennels are loud, stressful places for dogs. Some dogs express that stress by exhibiting behavior inside a kennel that they will not show otherwise. Please ask to take the dog you are interested into a play yard and spend some time getting to know him or her in that more relaxed environment. For more information on meeting dogs at the shelter, please read this article.
